About our mutual fund services
Dhan Kirti Investor Services is an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor (ARN 315385)—here is what you should know before you invest.
Basics
What is a mutual fund?
A mutual fund pools money from many investors and invests it in a portfolio of assets—such as equities, debt, or a mix—managed by a professional fund manager on behalf of an Asset Management Company (AMC). When you invest, you buy units of the scheme. The price of each unit is based on the Net Asset Value (NAV), which reflects the market value of the fund's holdings minus expenses, calculated daily for most open-ended schemes. Mutual funds in India are regulated by SEBI. Open-ended funds generally allow you to buy or redeem units on any business day, subject to scheme rules, exit loads, and cut-off timings.

Key takeaways
- Pooled investing—your money is combined with other investors' to access a diversified portfolio.
- Diversification across securities and sectors, which can reduce concentration risk compared with picking individual stocks.
- SIP option—invest a fixed amount monthly to build discipline and benefit from rupee-cost averaging over time.
- NAV-based pricing—units are bought and sold at the scheme's prevailing NAV (plus any applicable loads or charges).
- Market-linked returns—equity and hybrid funds can rise or fall with market conditions; past performance does not guarantee future results.
- Read scheme documents—the Scheme Information Document (SID) and Key Information Memorandum (KIM) explain objectives, risks, and costs.
Investor perspective
Why do people buy mutual funds?
Diversification
A single fund can hold dozens or hundreds of securities, spreading risk across companies, sectors, or debt instruments.
Professional management
Experienced fund managers research markets, select securities, and rebalance portfolios according to the scheme's stated objective.
Goal-based SIPs
Systematic investment plans help investors align regular contributions with long-term goals such as retirement, education, or wealth creation.
Accessibility
You can start with relatively small amounts through SIPs, making market participation possible without a large lump sum.
