MSEI IPO Date: Is the Metropolitan Stock Exchange IPO Confirmed?
Last verified: 31 October 2026
Short answer: No. As of 31 October 2026, the Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSEI) has not announced an IPO date, price band or listing date. We found no DRHP (draft red herring prospectus) filing and no IPO announcement in the news coverage and exchange communications available to us. Any specific “MSEI IPO date” you see online is speculation, not a confirmed schedule.
This page separates what is confirmed from what is only reported, explains the steps that must happen before any IPO, and shows how to check official sources yourself. We update it when something verifiable changes.
Is the MSEI IPO confirmed?
No stage of the IPO process is publicly confirmed for MSEI.
IPO stage | What it means | Status for MSEI (31 Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
Board/shareholder approval and regulatory clearance | Internal decision plus any SEBI clearance needed for exchanges | Nothing publicly confirmed |
DRHP filed with SEBI | The formal first step toward an IPO | No filing found |
SEBI observations | SEBI reviews and comments on the draft | Not applicable yet |
RHP and price band | Final offer document and pricing range | Not announced |
Issue opening and closing dates | When investors can apply | Not announced |
Listing date | First trading day | Not announced |
A DRHP is the clearest public signal that an IPO is genuinely in motion, and it is published on SEBI’s website. Please verify directly there (see “How to track official updates” below) before relying on any claim, including ours.
What has actually happened around MSEI in 2024–26?

Several real developments are often mistaken for IPO news. None of them is an IPO announcement. Notably, MSE’s own statement after its latest fundraise spoke about deepening liquidity in the equity cash segment, followed by derivatives, rather than about a listing. business-standard
Date | Development | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
Dec 2024 | A funding round led by leading discount brokerages helped revive investor interest in the exchange. | Reported by a national business daily |
Aug 2025 | MSE announced it had raised ₹1,000 crore in its second round of capital raising, and shareholders approved Latika Kundu’s reappointment as MD & CEO for three years. The exchange is also setting up a dedicated data centre. | Reported by a national business daily |
Feb 2026 | Reuters-sourced reports said SEBI asked MSEI and NCDEX to pause equity-derivatives plans and build liquid cash equity markets first, with at least a six-month gap before derivatives. MSEI said it was SEBI-recognised and under no restriction from offering approved products, including equity derivatives. | Reported, and disputed by MSEI |
Sep 2026 | An MSEI circular dated 23 September admitted NSE shares to its Capital Market Segment under “Permitted to Trade” from 24 September 2026. | Confirmed via exchange circular, reported by media MSE raises ₹1,000 cr to aid revival, Latika Kundu reappointed CEO +4 |
Why do so many different MSEI IPO dates appear online?
Search results for this topic are full of conflicting claims. We have seen pages quoting different issue sizes, price bands and opening dates for the same “upcoming” MSEI IPO. They cannot all be right, and none matches a SEBI filing.
Common reasons:
Template content. Auto-generated pages reuse an “IPO news today” format with no source, no filing and no date.
Recycled old keywords. Searches like “MSEI IPO news 2021” attract pages that were never updated.
Price forecasts presented as facts. Long-range share-price “targets” are extrapolations, not company or regulator information.
Grey-market numbers. A grey market premium (GMP) exists only once an IPO has been announced. Without one, a “GMP” has nothing to measure.
A genuine date always traces back to an MSEI announcement, a SEBI document or an exchange IPO calendar.
How does an exchange IPO work in India?
The steps are the same for most mainboard IPOs, though exchanges also need regulatory clearances because they are market infrastructure institutions.
Appoint merchant bankers. They prepare the draft offer document.
File the DRHP with SEBI. The document is made public on SEBI’s website.
SEBI review. SEBI issues observations. The IPO generally has to open within a limited window after those observations, so approval alone is not a date.
File the RHP and announce the price band. The issue dates are fixed and published.
Issue opens for about three working days. Investors apply through brokers or UPI.
Allotment and listing. SEBI requires listing within T+3 working days of the issue closing. s45
For exchange-specific clearances, NSE’s own path is a useful benchmark. NSE’s management said on its Q3 FY26 earnings call (February 2026) that it had received a SEBI no-objection certificate for listing its shares. We have found no equivalent public statement for MSEI. nseindia
Where would MSEI shares list?
Not announced. An exchange generally cannot list its own shares on its own platform. NSE, for example, cannot be used to trade NSE’s own listed shares, which is why other exchanges matter on day one. By the same logic, MSEI would need to list on another recognised exchange. Which one has not been disclosed. kotakneo
Does the NSE IPO mean the MSEI IPO is next?
There is no confirmed link. The NSE offer was a separate transaction. It was a ₹22,561.57 crore offer for sale priced at ₹1,785 and subscribed 5.71 times. That shows investor appetite for exchange businesses, but sentiment is not a filing. MSEI’s size, financials and regulatory position differ, so one exchange listing does not set a timetable for the other. kotakneo
What would signal that the MSEI IPO is genuinely close?
Watch for these, in roughly this order:
A DRHP appearing among SEBI’s draft offer documents.
A board or shareholder announcement on MSEI’s official website, mseindia.com.
SEBI observations or an in-principle approval being reported.
An RHP, price band and issue dates on the BSE and NSE IPO pages.
Until step 1 occurs, treat dates as unverified.
Could MSEI list even without a long profit record?
That is a question for the offer document, not for speculation. SEBI’s rules offer more than one eligibility route, including one designed for companies without a profit track record, which allocates a larger share of the issue to institutional buyers. MSEI’s actual financial position is in its annual report, and we analyse it in our upcoming article on MSEI’s financial performance.
What does this mean for people holding or considering MSEI unlisted shares?
An IPO is a possible outcome, not a promise. It may happen later, take longer, or not happen.
Unlisted shares are illiquid. You may not find a buyer when you want to exit.
Prices differ by source and date. Prices differ by source and date. Compare dated quotes before relying on any figure, because unlisted prices are not set by an exchange..
Lock-in rules apply only if an IPO happens. Lock-in rules apply only if an IPO happens. For non-promoter pre-IPO shares, SEBI’s rules generally prescribe six months from the date of allotment in the IPO. Check the final offer document for exact terms.
An IPO price is not guaranteed to exceed the unlisted price.

Frequently asked questions
1. Has MSEI announced an IPO date?
No. As of 31 October 2026, there is no announced IPO date, price band or listing date.
2. Is the MSEI IPO confirmed?
No. Neither an IPO nor a schedule has been confirmed by MSEI or SEBI.
3. Has MSEI filed a DRHP with SEBI?
We found no DRHP filing. Check SEBI’s draft offer documents for the latest position.
4. What is the MSEI IPO expected date?
There is no reliable expected date. Dates quoted online are estimates without a regulatory basis.
5. What is the MSEI IPO price band?
None has been announced. A price band is published only after the RHP is filed.
6. When is the MSEI listing date?
Not announced. A listing date follows the issue closing by about three working days, and no issue has been scheduled.
7. Where will MSEI shares be listed?
Undisclosed. An exchange generally cannot list on its own platform, so another recognised exchange would be needed.
8. Is there an MSEI IPO GMP?
No. A grey market premium relates to an announced IPO. Quotes labelled “MSEI GMP” today are not tied to any issue.
9. Why are NSE shares trading on MSEI?
MSEI admitted NSE shares on its Capital Market Segment under “Permitted to Trade” from 24 September 2026. This relates to NSE’s listing, not MSEI’s.
10. Does the NSE IPO mean MSEI will list next?
Not necessarily. There is no filing or announcement connecting the two.
11. Why would MSEI go public?
MSEI has not published objectives. Companies commonly list to raise capital, give shareholders liquidity and improve visibility, but those are general reasons, not MSEI disclosures.
12. Where can I check whether MSEI has filed a DRHP?
On SEBI’s website under draft offer documents, and on MSEI’s announcements at mseindia.com.
13. How long after a DRHP does an IPO open?
It varies. SEBI must review the draft, and the issuer then files an RHP and announces dates. Typically this takes months, and an IPO is not guaranteed.
14. Can I buy MSEI shares before an IPO?
Yes, in the unlisted market, with shares delivered to your demat account. Liquidity is limited and prices are not exchange-regulated.
15. Is the unlisted MSEI price a guide to the IPO price?
No. An IPO price is set through a formal pricing process and may differ widely from over-the-counter quotes.
16. What is the lock-in period for MSEI pre-IPO shares?
For non-promoter pre-IPO shares, SEBI’s rules generally prescribe six months from the date of allotment in the IPO. This applies only if an IPO occurs, so check the final offer document.
17. What happens to unlisted shares after listing?
They become exchange-tradable once listed and any lock-in expires. Standard listed-share tax rules then apply.
18. Are social-media posts about MSEI IPO news reliable?
Not on their own. Rely on SEBI documents, MSEI announcements and IPO calendars.
Conclusion
The honest answer to “When is the MSEI IPO?” is that nobody can say yet. The exchange has raised fresh capital and says its focus is deepening cash-market liquidity, but no verifiable IPO step has been publicly confirmed. When a DRHP or official announcement appears, it will show up on SEBI’s website first. Until then, treat dates, price bands and GMP figures as unverified.
